Join us for the annual Arm of Hope 5K! To find out more
Dear Friends of Arm of Hope,

“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you (and in Arm of Hope) will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:3-6

Words can never express my love and appreciation for you all. Your presence at our annual picnic fundraiser was a wonderful encouragement!
Last week was looking a bit gray, as the hurricane made its way inland. Being an optimist, I kept thinking it would make its way around us for our picnic, but it wasn’t meant to be. Moving inside was a small inconvenience compared to the devastation of those who lost their homes. Many hands made the work go quickly, as we set up as many tables as possible inside the church on Saturday afternoon to prepare for our guests. Before 5 p.m. ever arrived, you all started to make your appearance! The kitchen helpers were scrambling to put together the picnic boxes totaling 330 meals!
The best part of of the evening was hearing from Philip Darko, our missionary partner and Ghana director, as he described the need for a clinic in the slum community in which Arm of Hope is working. The strategic plan lays out funds needed for each stage, as well as short and long term goals. (See attachment below to look at the strategic plan for the clinic.)

The Arm of Hope clinic will provide services for our students, their families, and neighbors right in the heart of their community. In the past, residents of this community would have to travel by bus some distance in order to receive care. Now care will be at their fingertips, reducing disease progression and saving lives.

Most important, the clinic will not only care for the physical needs of the community, but also their spiritual needs. Arm of Hope will be hiring many of our college graduates to work in this clinic, and they will have the opportunity to pray with patients and point them to the Lord. The clinic will be another way for Arm of Hope to shine the light of Jesus!
The total cost of the clinic is $350,000, and the clinic building will begin as soon as money for the first phase is raised. In this way, the lower floor of the clinic can open quickly, receiving patients, and beginning to generate revenue. Our goal is to have the clinic be self-sustaining one year after completion. At the picnic we were happy to announce that we have received a $25,000 matching grant! Please help us match this grant, so that we are set for beginning the first floor of the clinic.

Thank you for praying and asking God how He may be calling you to invest in this opportunity to meet both physical and spiritual needs. This is the first time Arm of Hope has raised this amount of money for anything, but we know that God is going to provide in His timing.

To get on board as an Arm of Hope medical clinic partner, you can give at armofhopeinghana.org and choose “Medical Clinic Building Project” from the giving menu. Checks may be sent to Arm of Hope, 1708 Ridge Road, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 and clearly marked for the Medical Clinic.

Thank you for coming out to the picnic in spite of the rain, for your encouraging words, and your excitement for the work in Ghana. Your support means the world to me!
