One, two, three days till we leave!

One of the most exciting things about this year’s trip is the fact that our team will get to experience the dedication of Arm of Hope’s new building in the slum community.  Since the very first thought of Arm of Hope was in Philip’s mind, he talked about a community building where kids could come and study at a library and computer center.  A place where he could meet with kids one on one and in small groups.  A place that would be a light in the midst of many difficult circumstances.

Eight years ago we had a hard time fathoming what that dream would look like.  Where would we build it?  How would we pay for the land?  How could we find a spot to build in a community that’s so tight it doesn’t even have roads through it?  It is amazing to see that God has provided a place for us to build UP right on top of the school where we hold our Bible club meetings each Sunday.  It just reminds me that God’s ways are definitely HIGHER than our ways.  Haha!  It reminds me that when I can’t see a way, God has a way I never even thought of.

So please pray for the dedication of this new building.  Pray that the people of the community and the parents of our children will come out for the special day.  Pray they will not see the white Americans as the providers of this blessing, but instead pray  they will see Jesus.  Pray they will not thank us, but instead they will be full of thankfulness to God for this amazing gift.  This building is not something we could have ever done on our own.  God provided the resources, and it belongs to Him 100%!

Pray that dedicating this new facility will build a stronger partnership between the people of this community and the ministry of Arm of Hope.  Pray that this building will be a light to everyone who comes through its doors, and people will will come into relationship with Jesus because of its presence.
