Wanted: Prayers for Our Team

Posted in Prayer Requests and tagged:

Time is flying by, and a Ghana camp team update is definitely in order.  Below is the Arm of Hope team that will be traveling to Ghana on July 29 to help carry out two weeks of camp with our sponsored kids there!

Our team consists of (from left to right):  Tim Ainsley, Sherrie Ainsley, Rachel Bennage, Kaitlyn Black, Maddie Conley, Brenda Martin, Devan Turner, Caden Zimmerman, Mike Zimmerman, Cheryl Zimmerman, Greg Grove, Denise Grove, Colton Grove, and Dennis Bartch

Our focus for camp this year is Galatians 5:  walking in the Spirit and being filled with the fruit of the Spirit.  As our team continues to meet and discuss this topic, we seem to come to a fairly unanimous decision:  It’s pretty easy to have the fruit of the Spirit in our lives while in Ghana!  In Ghana we have very limited distractions, and our responsibilities are pretty much wrapped up in the camp and the people who attend it.  Home, on the other hand, is a different matter!

At home it seems that life flies by at an alarming rate.  There are so many things grabbing for our attention and so many things that easily distract us from listening to and walking in the Spirit.  It seems to be much harder to lavish our own families, co-workers, spouses, and children with the fruit of the Spirit than it is to do the same for the children in Ghana.

So will you pray for us?  Our desire is for our Spirit-filled selves to start right now!  At home!  At work!  In our own neighborhoods!  None of us want to be hypocritical in our walk with Jesus.  We desire to be authentic examples of Jesus and the fruit of His Spirit that will be worthy of little people following and copying.

Pray for us please, that God will change us from the inside out.  Pray that we will truly have the love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in Ghana that we practice every day here at home.
